Crustose lichens containing a trebouxioid alga; thallus granular, verruculose, or obscure; perithecia pale yellow-brown, partly sunken in the thallus; perithecial wall formed of intertwined hyphae, also with an exciple below the asci; hymenium of few, paraphysis-like hyphae with short cells; asci narrowly pear-shaped, broadest below the middle, thin-walled, IKI-, lacking a distinct tholus; spores 4-8 per ascus, muriform, colourless.
