Bactrospora
Thallus whitish, thin, scurfy, containing trentepohlioid algae; apothecia black, dull, with a thin, inconspicuous rim formed of a non-algal exciple formed of thick-walled hyphae loosely embedded in weak gel; hymenium formed of gnarled, branched, anastomosing paraphyses, the paraphyses and asci easily breaking off at the base as seen in cross section; asci clavate or cylindrical; spores acicular, colourless, with numerous transverse septae, 8 per ascus, frequently breaking into fragments and so appearing to be more than 8.
